Stanley Park

Hi Lovelies,
A few days ago I met a with a lovely German girl, Marie, and we went to Stanley Park together. It was the third time that I have been there and it just never gets boring. This park is simply stunning and beautiful and always makes me forget that I am actually in Downtown Vancouver. And it's not just that but this park is more than just a park. In fact it is more like a deep forest with some small trails and some beautiful lakes. And I think this is what makes it so special.
But I don't think I need to tell you more, just find out for yourself :-)

Job update & a stunning place to see

Hey guys!
I am doing and visiting quite a lot right now so there is a lot I can an I will tell you about.
But first some amazing news: I GOT A JOB!! After my little low last week I tried to move on and motivate myself that I'm gonna find somewhere to work I just have to be patient. Et voilà, my plan worked out. I got some invitations for job interviews and even if they didn't hire me in the end it was still a good experience.
But back to the job which I finally got. I'm gonna work for an Austrian chocolate company (they are named Zotter, if anyone of you guys know them) at the Vancouver Christmasmarket. Isn't it awesome? I am really happy about it! I mean it is selling CHOCOLATE which is like the best job I could have ever been thinking of! And it is not only seeing chocolate but I am also gonna have the honor to host a daily "taste and learning class". I'm gonna develop my own workshop to inform the people about Zotter's fair trade and organic (that makes it even more amazing) production from the bean to the bar and I will do my best to teach them about the importance of fair traded produce. So if I made you curious and hungry for good chocolate then you should definitely come and check out Zotter's Chocolate Company at the Vancouver Christmasmarket (everyday from 11am-9pm, from Nov.22-Dec.24)!

Since the weather was (and still is) amazing during the last days I visited the Lighthouse Park in West-Vancouver and it was so beautiful! You can easily reach the park by bus from Downtown which is cheap and fast at the same time. I don't have to say much about it except that you should go there and see by yourself! And now just enjoy enjoy some of my impressions which, I promise, really wanna make you go there!

Lots of love!♡

Lost in Vancouver

Hi Lovelies!
I wanted to give you a short update about my first days in Vancouver. As I told you in my last post, I got here on Monday so I am here for nearly five days now. Right after my arrival I did some basic grocery shopping (oats, pasta, oil, spices, ect.) and I was shocked because a I paid around 70$ just for basics! First impression: Van is expensive!
This is the main reason why I definitely need a job! As soon as possible! Therefore I already applied for 15 jobs, mostly caffees or restaurants. But this is not as simple as I expected it because I need a so called "serving-it-right certification" in order to serve alcohol in British Columbia. And although it's quite quick to get it, it is also really tricky. I had to do an online course with a final exam at the end and I had to study the responsible behavior with alcohol and all the lawful consequences (which are by the way a lot). But anyways,  I succeeded and got my certificate!
Besides this, I took care of more organizational stuff such as opening a bank account, getting my social insurance number (which allows me in a last step to legally work in Canada) and getting a phone plan.
But I also took my time to see more of the city and visited Granville Island and it's Public Market which was really pretty, also because the weather was sunny that day. Usually it was raining a lot these days so I am hoping for some more sunny days next week because everything is better in the sun! :)
As I am feeling a little bit lost in this big city because a I don't really know anyone and I don't know where to go I met up with four German girls today who I know from a Facebook group. This way way it's really easy to find people to go out with as you're simply posting that you're free to do something and at least two people will reply to your request. I totally enjoyed this afternoon because we all share the same experiences and worries and it was a big relief hearing that I am not the only one who was lost the first days and worried how things are gonna work out. Because that's what I really am right now: worried. Mostly about finding a job cause it's not that easy and as I said, life here is really expensive. It's like one of the first moments where I realized that I am completely on my own and that I am the only person who cares for me. No one else, just me. The last three months at Critter Care I didn't have to worry what was gonna happen or if I am gonna have enough food and there was always something that I had to do. And now it's all up to me. Don't get me wrong, it's freedom, I can do whatever I want and I like that but sometimes freedom is a little bit scary too.
But enough for now, I'll try to enjoy the city life to it's fullest because Vancouver is totally worth enjoying it and not worrying about it!

I'm gonna go sleep now and I wish you a good night or an awesome day, wherever you might be right now ♡

Girls night out in Vancouver

Hi everyone! :-)
Long time no see, or read...there weren't simply not so many new things happening at Critter Care. But now I am back and will probably blog more since I am moving to Vancouver tomorrow for about two months!! I'm really looking forward to that but I am gonna miss all the amazing people I met at Critter Care like crazy :-(. Especially in the last month, we got really close and were an amazing group! Have I mentioned that I'm gonna miss them? Probably not enough...I'm gonna miss the mornings when everyone walks into the kitchen, tired like hell but slowly waking up, having breakfast all together and already starting to laugh. I'm gonna miss the great team work on working days such as our days off which we spend together going to the mall, to the park, cooking, baking and so on. I'm gonna miss the evenings when we all accidentally meet in the kitchen, starting to cook and just sitting together, talking and laughing. But over all this, I'm mostly gonna miss the people themselves! ♡
Therefore, Halloween was the perfect possibility to spend some last time together and Kelly, Laura, Charlotte and I decided spending this night in Vancouver. We started the night walking on Granville Street with thousands of dressed up people and it was just crazy and funny! Then we ended up in an Irish pub which was really nice but also very expensive (15$ only to enter the pub!!). We had a lot of fun and danced a lot. Unfortunately, all bars, clubs, pubs, etc. have to close at 3am which is, compared to Germany, quite early. But that didn't our night down! The next morning we woke up early to take advantage of the sunny weather in Vancouver to visit Stanley Park. It was breathtaking, amazing, beautiful and indescredible and I can totally retrace why people call it the most beautiful city in the world! But convince yourself:
