My Raccooni-Baby

Hey Lovelies :)

Today is my off - day and that means: time for a new blog post!
There's not that much new stuff that came up this week buuut as you know, one little, little thing can change a lot. And that happened to me on tuesday.
We just got eight new baby squirrels in (I was already really excited) and I helped to examine them when one of our supervisors told me I'm getting a baby raccoon which came to us four days ago from Vancouver. This adorable little boy is four weeks old, has lost his mummy and therefore we have to raise him with the bottle. And this is gonna be my new task! :)
As I've never raised or fed a raccoon they teached me the most important things about raccoons, how to deal with them and, of course, how to feed them. For the first times of feedings, I just sat next to the supervisor watching her and step by step I was allowed to warm up the milk, to stimulate the little cutie and finally to feed him. I can tell you: feeding squirrels is so much easier than raising a raccoon because I have to follow a "strict instruction" and if I grab him too tight or too lose, if the milk is too hot or too cold, if I stop scratching him, or whatever, I promise you: he stops eating. My feeding times for him are at 6am,10am,2.30pm,7am and 11.30pm and they take from 15 minutes to an hour because this boy is a little spoiled prince who feels very special and it sometimes takes a looong time until he finally starts eating but if he once started sucking the nipple, he first stops when the bottle is empty. As you can see, my nights are again very, very short... Nevertheless, my feedings have already paid off 'cause he has gained a lot of weight :)
Other news you may be interested in are that my mink has to be put down on wednesday :( Unfortunately,  she got very sick over night and there was no way to help her. Besides that, we had to pick up a dead deer who got hit by a car, tried to rescue her fawn but we couldn't find it anymore and working on the daily to-do-lists which included a lot of painting this week.

I'm looking forward to another upcoming exciting week!
Kisses,
Lena ♡
