About new and old animals at Critter Care

Hi guys!

After a few days without internet, which was reeeeally annoying, I'm finally able to post again. And also I wanna apologize for not having blogged for that long but honestly I was just lazy and haven't had that much time. But now I'm back to business :D
Things are getting easier and slower and days are getting shorter here at Critter Care.
But never say never, just when I thought that I only have to take care of my Leo because all my nine squirrels were released in the last days, we got a call about a fawn in a yard. Therefore we went to rescue it and now I'm having a new fawn :). It's a boy and really young for that time of the year (around four to five weeks). But he besides the fact that he is orhaned, he seems to be perfectly fine. So no injuries or stuff like that we have to worry about. We tried to bottlefeed him for the first days cause he still needs to be on milk but the feeding stresses him out a lot and so we decided to just giving him a milk dish which he likes too.
The same day, we got the call about the fawn, we also got two new bear cubs. These siblings were rescued four to five hours away from our center and are still babies but are already quite big. Their mother was killed because she tried to break into houses to steal food and the two guys ended up being orphaned and brought to us.
Another story, which is actually a really sad one, is about a little raccoon baby. The little girl came to us in the evening of a really wet, cold and rainy day and that's why she was really weak and cold. So we put her into a small incubator (that way she can warm up and keep her heat more easily) together with a lot of heating disks and heating pads. It took her a long, long time till she was finally warm enough to give her fluids (that's always one of the first things we do with new animals as a "first aid"). I checked on her every 30 minutes but unfortunately, she wasn't strong enough and passed away :(. They told me that this sometimes happens to the animals because they were outside and cold for a long time and when heat up they crash because they can not handle it. Although I only knew her for a few hours I was really sad when I found her dead in the incubator. She was such an adorable, innocent raccoon and would have also been the perfect friend for my little Leo. But it wasn't meant to be...I'm still spending a lot of time with Leo taking him outside to the field and the forest so that he gets used to the "wild". Besides climbing my legs to reach the top of my shoulders he also likes to climb (small) trees, like real raccoons do. As he is getting bigger and wilder while playing it happend that he scratched my face and I`m getting now a big scar from the "innocent" and cute little boy (hahah) . But whatever he`s gonna do, he always gonna stay my spoiled prince and I love him to nuts!

Kisses,

Lena
